Clients are allotted 15 minutes of non-billable support per week between sessions. This includes brief communication via phone calls, messaging, or email for purposes such as scheduling conflicts, quick check-ins, or clarification related to assigned work or session discussions.
Any communication exceeding the initial 15-minute weekly allowance will be billed at your current session rate. Please note that this additional time is not covered by insurance and will be billed as self-pay.
This policy is designed to ensure thoughtful and responsive care round time and billing.
Before your first session, a credit card must be placed on file and set up for autopay. This card will be used to cover any out-of-pocket costs, including self-pay fees, copays, deductibles, and other financial obligations related to services rendered.
All charges will be invoiced and processed within 24 hours from the time of service. This system ensures timely payment and minimizes administrative delays, allowing us to focus on your care.
If you are a self-Pay client, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) that outlines the expected cost of your care. Under federal law, healthcare providers are required to give patients who do not have insurance, or who are not using insurance, an estimate of the total charges for medical services. The estimate is intended to help you make informed decisions about your treatment and avoid unexpected costs.
If you receive a bill that is $400 more than your GFE, you have the right to dispute the charges.

Once services begin, the claim is submitted on your behalf.
If your insurance is not accepted, and you would like to use out-of-network benefits with your insurance provider, a monthly statement (“superbill”) can be provided to present to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. Out of network reimbursement eligibility or rates of reimbursement vary based on your insurance plan. Please call your insurance provider prior to beginning services to ask about your plan’s out of network mental health reimbursement. **Disclosure**
It is your responsibility to know all payment requirements from your insurance company, and the service provided by Enlightening Journey is a courtesy. It is recommended that you understand your mental health benefits, deductibles, and the copay rates for your plan prior to starting therapy. You will be responsible for those costs at the time of service.
I find it essential to let you know that Insurance companies require a formal diagnosis to apply for reimbursement. Moreover, your insurance company may ask for your therapy records. Client confidentiality and discretion are of the utmost importance to me, and using insurance is not a requirement, but your choice.
I understand that unexpected events can happen, but in order to ensure that I can provide the best possible service to my clients, I ask that you please give at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment.
I kindly request that you understand that last minute cancellations and missed sessions may have an impact on other clients and my schedule. Therefore, I have a late cancellation and missed session fee policy as follows:
A 50% fee of the current session rate will be applied for the first late cancellation or missed session.
For any additional missed or late cancellations, a 100% fee of the current session rate will be applied.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
